Samantha Ruck

EYFS and KS1 Leader

My name is Samantha Ruck. I am a passionate Early Years Teacher and love to see children actively exploring, investigating and experimenting.

I started my working life as a nursery nurse and I worked  in some day nursery schools, my final position being as manager. From this I decided i wanted to move into a school setting and undertook my teacher training through the graduate teacher training programme. I started my teaching career at a three form entry infant school in St Albans and stayed at this school for 4 years. I have been working in my current school - a one form entry Primary school in 2012 and spent all of this time in the reception class. After a year I became the EYFS and KS1  leader and this led to me becoming part of the senior leadership. I have embarked on many improvement projects - such as Hertfordshire Early Years Quality mark and have seen the real difference this drive for change can make. I love working collaboratively with others and sharing ideas and am very excited about my role as an SLE as this is something I will be privileged to be able to do.  I look forward to working with others to support them with this very special stage of education.
